Chandigarh: The UT Consumer Forum has directed Indigo Airlines to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to two complainants who were charged the same amount of fare for an alternative flight provided from Ahmedabad to Delhi as against the main flight booked from Ahmedabad to Chandigarh.
Santosh Sharma and Shashi Kaushal, residents of Mohali and Hoshiarpur respectively, booked two flight e-tickets from the airlines for Ahmedabad to Chandigarh in 2012. The complainants, who confirmed their flight status a month in advance, were informed the flight had been cancelled and were requested to board an alternative flight from Ahmedabad to Delhi under the same PNR number.
After boarding the flight to Delhi, there were no arrangements made for them to travel to Chandigarh. As a result they had to hire a taxi and then board a Volvo bus to reach their destination.
