Chennai Airport turns fortress for Vice-President visit

Chennai: Security at the Chennai airport will be beefed up till Wednesday evening because of the impending visit of Vice-President Hamid Ansari, who will be arriving on Wednesday.
Close to 500 policemen and members of other security agencies have been deployed a day ahead of Ansari’s visit.
Unlike other VIP visits that the city airport has seen in the past six months, police officials are confident that there will be no traffic congestion along GST road nor will there be any affectation for air passengers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ansari will land at 3 pm and will proceed to attend a programme hosted by New College, at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium.
