Begumpet airport to get new hangar

Hyderabad: After five years of persuasion, the Union ministry of civil aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have finally given the green signal to the state government's proposal to build a new hangar at the Begumpet airport.
The Andhra Pradesh Aviation Corporation Limited (APACL) received a communique from AAI, Delhi recently, saying permission was granted to the state government to construct a hangar on their land at the Begumpet airport premises. "The AAI has allotted 8,880 square metres at a cost of Re one per sq metre for a period of 30 years on lease basis," a senior APACL official told TOI.
Regarding the facilities, the official said, "They are planning a four-storeyed hangar designed to park a helicopter, aircraft, APACL administration office, a VIP lounge, a mini conference hall, pilot operations room, maintenance room (workshop) and a store room for spare parts."
