Direct flight to Dehradun on the cards

Allahabad: After the introduction of a direct flight between Allahabad and Mumbai recently, the focus has now shifted to starting another direct flight from the city to Dehradun, the capital of hill state Uttarakhand. This is in the wake of poor rail connectivity between the two cities and unexpectedly large number of commuters, claimed Samajwadi Party (SP) national general secretary and Allahabad MP, Reoti Raman Singh.
Talking to TOI, he said that he has held talks with union minister for civil aviation, Ajit Singh and chairman, Indian Airlines in this connection, and they give favourable overtures towards the proposal. This means a direct flight between Allahabad and Dehradun may become a reality soon.
He said until now, the two cities are connected by the lone train Sangam Express which takes more than 22 hours to cover the distance of around 700 km.
