B.C. poet Renée Saklikar, who lost her aunt and uncle in the Air India bombing almost 30 years ago, will give a public reading at TRU next week.
Saklikar will read from her newly published work, Children of Air India: un/authorized exhibits and interjections (Nightwood Editions, 2013) on Nov. 28 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Room 2742 of TRU’s Old Main Building.
The debut collection is a deeply personal exploration of what it means to be Canadian and lose loved ones to an act of mass murder.
“She’s a fresh, new voice in Canadian poetry,” said Tom Friedman, a TRU English instructor who has included the book among readings for a course on history and Canadian literature.
