Flight to Port Blair returns to Chennai after snag hits engine

Chennai: More than 100 passengers were stranded at the Chennai airport as a Chennai-Port Blair GoAir flight returned after it developed a technical snag on Wednesday morning. Passengers were put to inconvenience as the airline had to cancel the flight and could not arrange another one.
The flight took off at 8.15am as per schedule but returned by 9am after the pilot detected a snag in engine number two, a senior airport official said.
"As the aircraft was climbing, we heard a sound like that of a cracker burst and a light flashed from the side of a wing. The flight flew around for an hour and landed back at Chennai airport," said Jijith Rekh, a passenger.
