Haj pilgrims may sue Air India for flight cancellations

Gaya: Haj pilgrims of the state plan to sue Air India for frequent cancellation of special Haj flights, alleged ill treatment in flight, lack of transparency and other violations of the rights of air passengers.
According to Haj Committee chairman Anisur Rahman Qasmi, several Haj pilgrims have approached him with complaints of last minute flight cancellations, denial of food and beverages during delayed flights and keeping the pilgrims in virtual captivity for nearly seven hours at the Lucknow airport. The committee will back the pilgrims in their legal battle against Air India, said Qasmi.
A few days back, Haj pilgrims were stranded at Lucknow airport for several hours. They were neither allowed to come out of the plane nor were eatables served to them inside the plane. A few of the stranded pilgrims being diabetic had to face anxious moments.
