Mumbai: With Christmas and New Year nearing, airlines have started offering discounts on fares to attract more passengers.
Low-cost carriers like SpiceJet, IndiGo and GoAir have started rolling out discounts.
On Sunday, SpiceJet launched an offer where a person booking two tickets can avail 20 per cent discount on the base fare. However, those booking three or more seats can get a discount of 25 per cent on the base fare, states a note sent by the airline to its frequent travelers and travel agents.
Base fare is the price of a ticket excluding taxes, levies and surcharges. Therefore, base fare is much less than the final amount that a passenger actually pays for a ticket.
