Shillong: Irked over the non-payment of compensation for the last six years, land owners of Dorbar Shnong (village council) of Umden Mission and Seng Samla Shnong Umden Pyllun have refused to part with their land for expansion of the Shillong airport at Umroi.
According to the landowners, as per the survey in 2011, the compensation package was not paid by the government as it had decided to re-survey the land for the expansion instead.
"If the government decides to re-survey the land, we will not part even with an inch of our land," a representative of the landowners and the Dorbar said. The decision was taken at a meeting held at Umden village.
