Surat could be a potential hub for AirAsia India

Surat: Surat could possibly get air connectivity to Chennai. Budget carrier AirAsia India, which plans to initially operate in South India with Chennai as its operational centre, is seriously considering the Diamond City as a potential satellite hub. A team of AirAsia India led by its CEO Mittu Chandilya is expected to visit the city in the first week of December and hold a series of meetings with the industry bodies and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGabout the potential of air traffic from the Diamond City towards the destinations in Southern India. Recently, SGCCI received a letter from AirAsia India CEO Mittu Chandilya urging the SGCCI president to line up his meeting with chief minister Narendra Modi.
