Navi Mumbai: Villagers have accepted an alternative model proposed by Peasents Workers Party (PWP) MLA Vivek Patil at the meeting held at Pargaon village on Saturday. The model may be finalized after the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) meeting with Prithviraj Chavan on Monday.
Congress MLA, Prashant Thakur, who was invited by the villagers to facilitate the talks, said, "Villagers whose land needs to be acquired were adamant on their demand of 35% compensation of developed land and Rs 6.25 crore cash compensation for every hectare of land acquired. The discussions continued for over two hours, but the alternative model suggested was accepted by the villagers.''
Patil said the model that was worked out means the villagers would get a compensation of 22.5% of the developed land, raising the FSI from 1.5 to 3 and compensation of Rs 6.25 crore will be made "negotiable". The government would, however, ensure that the villagers get a share in the operations of the new company that is formed to run the project.
