Ahmedabad airport gets two new radars

Ahmedabad: Two new radars for aircraft surveillance have been installed at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. It will be functional by the end of the month as the officials are waiting for final approval from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), New Delhi.
These two radars have replaced more than 15-year-old radars which were outdated and used to frequently blink. The radars known as Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR) and Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) are the basic model that help the controllers to check aircraft movements in the sky. They are also known as "eyes" of air traffic controllers (ATC).
