Imphal: Many Imphal-bound flights were delayed on Sunday due to dense fog. Imphal-Silchar Jet airways flight was also cancelled due to the fog.
For the second time, the flight schedules have gone haywire this month. Officials at Tulihal airport in Imphal claimed flights were delayed and cancelled due to operational reasons or poor weather at the destination airport and also because of the thick cover in Imphal.
While general visibility was as low as 500 metres, runway visibility was below 1,000 metres, forcing airport authorities to operate flights only after visibility was stablised at 1,300 metres around 1 pm today.
The Indigo flight from New Delhi which was scheduled to arrive at Tulihal airport at 9.45 am was rescheduled for the second time – first to 10.20 am and later to 12 noon. However, both the Delhi-bound Indigo flights took off from Imphal around 1.10 pm. Indigo officials said the flights were delayed due to bad weather.
