Fire at AAI remote transmitting station

Nagpur: A fire broke out on the ground of Airports Authority of India's (AAI) remote transmitting station on Wardha Road on Tuesday afternoon. No damage to any property was reported.
Wild, dry grass grows in abundance in AAI land on Wardha Road where the organization is also holding its annual Durga Puja programmes for the last two years. The grass provides for ample fuel for a small spark to convert into a fire.
Flames were seen near the Wardha Road side boundary of the land and small tongues of fire had spread about halfway through the ground to the back side. "But the equipment are safe and so is the building and towers. We had cleaned the grass around there during Durga Puja and thus the fire did not come towards the building," a senior AAI official.
