In 34 minutes airport officials show how prepared they are

Nagpur:  A full scale emergency exercise, which lasted 34 minutes, was conducted at Nagpur's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on Monday morning to check the level of preparedness of the airport in dealing with an aircraft crash situation.
The exercise (mock drill) which started at 11.42am saw a bus acting as an aircraft (ATR 72 500) which crash landed at Nagpur airport when coming from Mumbai. The eventuality was that the plane skidded off the runway after landing to the strip area. But, there was no fire.
According to the officials involved in the exercise, the air traffic control (ATC) gave a fire bell, following which the crash fire tenders (CFTs) reached the spot along with the airport rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) team. "It was in record time of one and a half minutes that the CFT reached the simulated accident spot," said the official.
