More than 300 flights delayed in November due to runway closure

Mumbai: Flight delays at Mumbai airport rose considerably in the month of November compared to October. According to data released by the ministry of civil aviation, 306 flights were delayed on more than 20% of the occasions while operating to or from Mumbai in November. In October, only 186 flights were delayed once in five times, showed the data. Airport officials attributed the delays to the main runway closure.
The data shows that 147 flights arriving into the city were delayed on more than 20% of the occasions they operated to the city. The number of delayed departures was even higher at 159. Jet Airways topped the charts with its 38 flights reporting delayed arrivals on more than 20% occasions in November, followed by Air India (37) and Indigo (29). Jet Airways with 46 flights also had the most number of delayed departures. Officials said the number of delays in November has been the highest since August.
