'Temple Alteration may Cause Communal Riots'

Kochi: Pathanamthitta District Collector on Monday submitted before the Kerala High Court that any move to change the structure of the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple would result in strong protests by the Hindu community and pave way for communal violence.
Considering the seriousness of the issue projected by the Devaswom Ombudsman, the court directed the Chief Secretary to file an affidavit in the matter.
The District Collector, in his report, stated that the KITCO was the management consultant for the project and the district administration had not involved in any discussion involving the change in structure of the temple.
The Collector made the submission when a report of the Devaswom Ombudsman stating that the height of flag mast of Parthasarathy Temple, which is designed according to tantric rules, cannot be reduced for the airport project, came up for hearing on Monday.
