Passenger from Colombo caught with 300g of gold

Madurai:  In yet another gold seizure at the Madurai airport, officials from the customs department seized 300g of gold biscuits from an elderly man who arrived here from Colombo.
Customs officials said that the man had concealed six gold bars, each weighing 50g inside his rectum. They managed to extract the gold bars from the passenger after much effort, the officials said.
The officials, who refrained from revealing the passenger's name due to complications involved, said they detained the man after he was spotted restless in the airport.
A S Meenalochani, joint commissioner of customs, Madurai division said the passenger was apparently tired. He was taken to a private room where they conducted an investigation. After prolonged inquiry with the passenger, he admitted that he was carrying the gold pieces.
