Navi Mumbai: City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) chairman, Pramod Hindurao told TOI on Wednesday that he would request retired members of judiciary, NGOs and political outfits not to create hurdles for the airport project by "making unrealistic promises".
On Tuesday, a group of villagers held a meeting at Cheroba maidan in Koli village to criticize the Cidco airport deal and pledged to fight for a better land package. Retired Supreme Court and Bombay high court judges, P B Sawant and B G Kolse Patil had attended the meeting to lend their 'support'.
With a veiled dig at Patil's observations during the meeting that the villagers should continue to fight for their demand, the Cidco chairman said, "Anybody can make promises. But how realistic are they?" With the city gearing up for Lok Sabha polls, would not the failure of the project to take off be a setback for the Congress-NCP? Hindurao, who is from NCP, said, "We are not looking at it as a political issue.
