Customs gold seizure run at MIA continues on Sunday

Mangalore: Officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport at Kenjar near here on Sunday in two separate cases seized gold weighing 821.57 grams valued at Rs 24,81,142. During the last one week, the customs officers at MIA have totally detected four cases of concealment of gold in different modus operandi and the total gold seized in these cases is Rs 58,09,336 weighing 1,929.59 grams, D Purushottam, commissioner of customs stated.
In the first case, officers seized seven gold objects, comprising three gold strips, one silver colour painted key made of gold, one silver colour nail cutter made of gold, one square block of gold and a silver colour painted elected shaver head piece made of gold, weighing 558.590 grams valued at Rs 16.86 lakh. This was recovered from carton box in the possession of passenger Mohammed Azharuddeen, a resident of Fashitha Manzil, Kunnil in Kasargod district.
