The rescheduling of flights into and out of Pune from January 15 to enable the Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) already has holidaymakers and frequent fliers grumbling. Morning flights to Delhi have been cancelled, while flights to Chennai and Bangalore have been postponed to afternoon and night respectively
“We planned to go Mysore and Coorg on January 25 and booked a Spice Jet flight from Pune to Bangalore, which was to leave at 7.45 am. It was convenient as we would have reached Bangalore at 9 am and taken a three-hour bus journey to Mysore at 10.30 am. Now, the Spice Jet flight has been cancelled. We have decided to go by Volvo which will take the entire day,” said Paresh Dikshit, a senior citizen.
Sangram Jedhe, senior IT consultant of Fujtitsu, who goes to Delhi and Bangalore, said, “I go in the middle of the week for a day and catch a flight back in the evening as it does not affect work scheduled for the next day. Many IT pros follow this schedule and they will suffer.”
The schedule will change from January 15. Airline companies sent the revised schedule to travel agencies on January 8.
