Jet setters prefer chartered flights

Ranchi:  In recent times, many private jets and VIP choppers have been spotted flying in Jharkhand. Corporate honchos, political leaders, businessmen and security forces are often seen flying in them and it helps them to meet their work deadline.
There has been a significant rise in the number of such flights in the state along with the increase in them nationwide. Airport Authority of India (AAI) reports say 4,024 non-scheduled flights took off between January 2013 and December 2013, 148 more than the number in 2012. A total of 3,876 non-scheduled flights took off in 2012 and 3,913 in 2011. "The number of flights that takes off from the state has increased in the past few years and this include non-scheduled flights like private jets, VIP choppers etc," said Ranchi airport director Raju Raghvendra Kumar.
Chartered flights are frequently reported flying from the industrial hubs like Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Dhanbad. Most people opting for them are residents of these cities and are industrialists and politicians.
