Kochi: The over Rs 284-crore project to build the new international terminal complex building at Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) has been bagged by infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
The contract for constructing the 15 lakh sq ft complex is 11.24% above the earlier estimated cost of Rs 255 crore.
The officials said the decision to award the contract to L&T was taken at the Cial director board meeting held on Tuesday.
The state-of-art terminal will have 15 aerobridges as well as a capacity to handle 10 million passengers annually, officials told TOI here. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months.
The total cost for constructing the new international terminal is about Rs 750 crore. The first tender has been awarded to L&T for the construction work.
