Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed KGS Aranmula International Airport Ltd to produce all study reports submitted by them before various authorities to implement the airport project as well as clearances, if any, obtained so far.
A Division Bench comprising Justice T R Ramachandran Nair and Justice B Kemal Pasha issued the order when suo motu proceedings were initiated by the court based on the report of the Devaswom ombudsman.
The report had stated that the height of the flag mast of Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple, which has been designed according to Tantric rules, cannot be reduced for the airport project.
P T Nandakumar, executive director of KGS, said the project report submitted by KGS was accepted by all authorities after conducting local inspection and scientific study. As a prelude to establish the green-field airport, the KGS had sought the assistance of Kitco to conduct a pre-feasibility study. The Kitco project report was not conclusive and the authority to conduct the obstacle survey lies with the Aero Survey India (ASI).
The survey report submitted by the ASI was accepted by all the authorities while granting consent to the project. “We made a project report on the basis of the pre-feasibility report and the obstacle survey report. When we made a project report of our own on the basis of the two reports, certain suggestions in the Kitco report were modified or deleted. It is the modified and comprehensive report that we submitted before the various authorities,” KGS submitted.
