New ATC tower draws paparazzi, security on alert

Mumbai: Many travellers and curious individuals, who are fascinated by the new Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at the city airport, often end up facing some difficult times from security agencies over the last one month.
The reason that the Central Industrial Security Force, a paramilitary force tasked with security at the airport, remains cautious over any suspicious movement in and around the vicinity of the airport. Hence, people taking photographs or videos have raised the suspicion of the security agencies although the area is not a 'prohibited' zone.
An airport official said that the latest such questioning happened last week when the security personnel came across a man with images of the new ATC tower and parking zone around the terminal. "He was handed over to the local police after questioning," said the official.
However, his interrogation by the local police revealed that the man was awed by the new air traffic control tower and was taking photographs on his cell phone," said a source from the local police. Subsequently, the police released him.
