New flyover to Navi Mumbai airport will skirt nodes

Navi Mumbai:  Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik has proposed a flyover that would connect Mumbai and Pune to the upcoming international airport, but bypass the satellite city nodes. Anticipating that the existing traffic would only increase once the new airport is functional, the Thane guardian minister thinks the flyover will be a viable way to avoid the city rush and head for the airport.
"Once the second airport is functional, there will be more vehicles plying to and from the airport. So a flyover bypassing the city to lead to the airport will be a feasible solution," Naik told TOI.
"I will take up the proposal with chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, who can discuss it with Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco)," added the state excise minister in the ruling DF government.
