Politicians enjoying VIP treatment at airports even after demitting office

New Delhi: After the DGCA notification leaked in media where they demanded private airlines to provide VIP treatment to MPs, now the ministry sources have claimed that politicians and bureaucrats continue to enjoy the VIP benefits even after their retirements.
India Today has accessed documents from the Civil Aviation ministry which shows how former aviation ministers and aviation secretaries continue to enjoy benefits even after demitting the offices.
The letter issued by civil aviation ministry in February, 2009 to several airport operators, AAI, BCAS and Air India directed all the agencies to provide VIP treatment to all the former aviation ministers, minister for state for civil aviation, deputy ministers. The letter shows how political leaders even after losing their chairs have managed to enjoy VIP privileges on national carrier and airport across India.
