CAT suggests Air India's Ex-ED to resolve Jet - Etihad dispute in higher court

New Delhi: The competition appellate tribunal has advised state-run carrier Air India's former executive director Jitendra Bhargava to approach a higher court with his appeal against the competition watchdog's approval to the deal between Jet Airways and Etihad Airways.
The bench headed by Justice VS Sirpurkar on Monday repeatedly questioned Bhargava's locus stand in the matter.
"The locus standi to appear before the tribunal lies with the competing airlines like Air India and not a pro bono petitioner. Just because you were serving Air India does mean you have the locus to appear before us," the bench told Bhargava.
However, the bench gave Bhargava a chance to prove his standing in the case and said it would hear the matter again on February 24. Bhargava had approached the competition tribunal last year against the CCI's approval to Etihad's 2,058 crore investment for a 24% stake in Jet Airways.
