Copter scam papers not verified, Antony says

New Delhi:  Seeking to firewall his party's top leadership from any blowback in the VVIP helicopter scam, defence minister A K Antony has stressed the "unsigned" documents seized from a middleman in Italy were yet to be proven authentic.
One document presented by Italian prosecutors in court shows alleged middleman Christian Michel advised AgustaWestland in 2008 to "target" Sonia Gandhi and her "key advisers" like "Manmohan Singh, Ahmed Patel, Pranab Mukherjee, M Veerappa Moily, Oscar Fernandes, M K Narayanan and Vinay Singh" in order to bag the VVIP helicopter contract, as was reported by TOI last week.
While there is no proof as yet whether this plan of action was actually implemented, the BJP demanded a statement on the "very serious matter" in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
