Dabolim airport director denies allegations of poor construction work

Vasco: Airport director M Suresh denied the allegations of poor construction work and substandard materials in the collapse of retaining wall of the newly constructed terminal of the Dabolim airport.
"The wall did not collapse on its own; this should be treated as an accident at a construction site. Our probe revealed that it is the fault of the operator of the JCB earth-mover, who was shifting sand left at the spot on Wednesday. The earth-mover accidentally crashed into the wall and it collapsed. The same contractor has already started re-building it," he said.
AAI has stationed security guards at the spot to ensure that nobody enters the airport unauthorised, Suresh added.
