Immigration process a breeze for T2 flyers

Mumbai: The operations at Mumbai airport's new terminal 2 went on without any major problems on Day 3 the third night after its commissioning, what with the check-in baggage problems on the arrivals side largely taken care of.
Immigration clearance procedures, both for arriving and departing passengers, which had been running smoothly since commissioning of the terminal have been touted as one of the best experiences in T2.
"Immigration clearance was done in less than 10 minutes. But my check-in bags took an hour and a half to arrive on the conveyor belt," said Mohit Rajpal, product head of musafir.com, who landed from Dubai at 3am.
Like Rajpal, thousands of flyers from the Middle East who disembarked in the new T2, on Wednesday, the day it was commissioned, had to wait for hours to collect their check-in bags as the inline baggage screening done by Customs officials took longer than expected.
"There are 40-42 immigration desks and till now, immigration clearance has been hassle free," said an airport source.
