India says no airport unsafe in country

New Delhi: Indian minister has said there is no unsafe airport in the country.
“There is no aerodrome which can be termed as unsafe,” Indian Minister of State for Civil Aviation  K C Venugopal told Lok Sabha, lower house of Indian parliament.
He said information on facilities available at aerodromes is published through Aeronautical Information Publication for use by airline operators. “This includes the information on non-compliance on applicable standards. The aircraft operations are carried out by the aircraft operators after assessing the availability of facilities and their suitability for the type of aircraft including operational mitigation measures”.
He, however, said certain operational mitigation measures may be required in case of aerodromes which are surrounded by terrain and have physical constraints.
