Kingpin held in gold smuggling case

Jaipur: The customs department has arrested the kingpin of an international racket involved in smuggling gold from Gulf via Jaipur airport on Sunday. The kingpin was identified as Praveen Saini, a resident of Dunlod (Sikar) along with one carrier Govind Kumar Kumawat of Laxmangarh in Sikar.
The two were arrested after a senior supervisor of Air India, Sameer Nigam (45), who was arrested on January 18 for assisting a passenger (Kumawat) to smuggle gold outside the airport spilled the beans. With the arrest, the department has also solved the mystery behind the smuggled 3 kg gold on January 18. Kumawat was the carrier who arrived from Dubai in Air India flight and dropped the bag of gold as part of plan inside the dustbin of washroom at immigration office.
