NIFT to train youth of airport project affected youth

Kharghar: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will train youths of project affected villages of Navi Mumbai airport project in order to make them capable of getting a job or managing their own retail business. The three-month intensive training programme will be conducted with the association of Cidco.
NIFT is among the premier institutes in fashion and apparel designing run by the government of India and its training programme and certificate is widely acceptable across the country.
The NIFT has especially designed five short-term courses that will be job oriented. "NIFT mostly has degree courses on offer. But we have designed five short-term courses to serve them," said Nilima Rani Singh, director, NIFT Kharghar. The courses include dress-making, pattern-making, fashion photography, entrepreneurship and salesman. "With the airport coming in the vicinity, there will be more job opportunities those with training will get preferences," said Singh. The three month course will be very intensive and students will be taught dress-designing, the process of bulk production, skills of fashion photography, handling own retail shop and workforce for retail shops.
