Operations at Dabolim NITB take off

Vasco: Operations at the New International Terminal Building (NITB) of Dabolim Airport commenced on Tuesday, with Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho and Airport Director M Suresh assuring that teething problems at the new airport terminal would be sorted out within the next few days.
Speaking to media persons at the NITB, Airport Director M Suresh said that 15 arrivals and 15 departures would initially operate from the NITB. “As far as infrastructure is concerned, there could be some issues initially but all things will fall in place in a week’s time,” assured Suresh.
“Infrastructure will be shifted in a phased manner. In the first phase, we have started the operations at the NITB,” said Suresh. “Within a week’s time, entire operations from the old building will be shifted to NITB and the old airport terminal will be used for office staff and other stakeholders.”
Speaking to reporters while welcoming passengers at the NITB, Godinho sought to refute criticism from different quarters that operations at NITB were carried out in haste without completing the pending works at the airport.
