Police to quiz Celebrity Cricket League stars, airline staff

Kochi: Police have decided to question officials of IndiGo airlines and members of the Celebrity Cricket League team 'Kerala Strikers' with regard to the incident in which the team was deplaned from an IndiGo airlines flight at Cochin airport on Friday on charges of misbehaviour.
"The complaint given by the Kerala Strikers team and the intimation report filed by the IndiGo officials do not contain materials which merit registering of a case. Hence, we have decided to question people on both sides, based on which we will decide whether a case should be registered," said Satheesh Bino, Ernakulam rural district police chief.
Meanwhile, aviation experts said that if the IndiGo airlines commander followed proper procedure, there was every chance that all members of Kerala Strikers would get booked under rules 22 and 23 of Indian Aircraft Rules (1937). "If the charges are proved, they may face punishment of one year imprisonment and/or a fine of Rs 5 lakh, said Jacob K Philip, a Kochi-based aviation analyst and editor of Indian Aviation News Net.
