Sahar police issue show-cause notice to Intl Airport

Mumbai: The Sahar police on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Mumbai International Airport authorities (MIAL) based on a complaint by the students' wing of Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navanirman Sena.
Akhil Chitre, leader of the Maharashtra Navanirman Vidyarthi Sena, in his complaint, alleged that the MIAL airport operators were charging Rs 110 from vehicles that were taking around 5 minutes or more to exit the concourse area after either dropping or picking up passengers, when no charges should be levied.
Chitre said that they would withdraw their complaint if the charges are revoked by Wednesday evening. Otherwise, he said, MNS would stage a protest at the airport. R Patil, Senior Police Inspector, Sahar police station, said, "Following a joint meeting of airport officials and MNS leaders on Tuesday evening, we decided to issue a show-cause notice to MIAL."
