Two kilo gold valued at Rs 65 lakh seized at Mangalore airport in three cases

Mangalore:  The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) have thwarted once again attempts to smuggle gold and as a result seized gold totally weighing 2,191.200 grams valued at Rs.65.29 lakh in three separate cases on Tuesday.
In the first case, the officers seized 13 gold coils, totally weighing 999.650 grams and valued at Rs.29.78 lakh concealed in a electric hot plate stove from the possession of a passenger named Basheed Choori Abdul Rahiman, who is a resident of Bushra Manzil, Jeelani Nagar, Uliyathadukka, Madhur post, Kasaragod . He had arrived at MIA at 5.30 am by Jet Airways flight 9W531 from Dubai.
In the second case, the officers seized two gold wires totally weighing 699.900 gms and valued at Rs.20.85 lakh concealed in a aluminium frame around the suitcase from the possession of a passenger named Nazar Thekkupuram, who is a resident of Thekkupuram, Pallikere, Kasaragod. He had arrived at MIA at 7.45am by Air India Express flight IX814 from Dubai.
