Biju Patnaik airport to be rewarded for maintaining green standard

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik airport is set to get ISO-14001 tag, a recognition given to airports by international organization for standardization, Geneva, for meeting environmental parameters. This tag will help the airport popularize itself as an international one.
Officials said since the airport has adopted the best practices to maintain the required greenery, air quality, less power and water consumption, it would be counted among the few airports to get the international green tag.
"We have taken several concerted efforts to keep the airport environment according to international standards. Now, it is one of the greenest airports. Frequent monitoring of the air quality has also been done to ensure that it doesn't exceed the standard limit. The waste management here has also improved a lot," said airport director Sharad Kumar.
