DGCA likely to be part of probe into crash

New Delhi: India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is likely to be a part of the investigation team that will examine the cause of the disappear-ance of the Malaysia Airlines's flight MH 370 which went missing while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on Saturday.
"Five of the 239 passengers on board the aircraft were Indian nationals. As per international aviation rules, regulatory age-ncies of countries whose nationals are in an aircraft involved in an accident are represented in the probe panel formed to investigate it," said an official.
The ill-fated aircraft was a Boeing 777-200 ER (Extended Range) — whose later versions are used extensively by Air India and Jet Airways on long-haul international routes. AI has 12 B 777-300 ERs and eight B 777-200 LRs (Long Range). Jet has 10 B 777-300 ERs.
