Airport sweeper caught leaving T2 with 5kg gold

Mumbai: Security personnel at the international airport on Tuesday caught a sweeper trying to exit Terminal 2 with five kilos of gold.
Ganpat R Shinghade, 30, works for A2Z, a firm that provides housekeeping services at Terminal 2. His shift ended at 4 pm on Monday and he was exiting the terminal from the staff access gate on level 1 when he was stopped. "CISF head constable Balvinder Singh, who was stationed at the staff access gate, found something suspicious about Shinghade, who seemed to be in a hurry. Singh stopped Shinghade and examined in bag, in which he found five gold bars weighing one kg each," a source at T2 told Mirror.
Shingade, told the investigators that he had found the gold lying in a dustbin. However, investigators said his passport and over a half-dozen credit and debit cards were recovered from his bag, indicating his involvement with a gold smuggling syndicate.
