Election Commission seeks Modi flight delay report

New Delhi: The Election Commission has asked the aviation ministry to submit a report by 5 pm today (Thursday) on the flight delays faced by BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi in Delhi and Bareilly on Tuesday.
The EC action comes on the basis of a formal complaint lodged by the BJP on the issue, with a request that the EC direct aviation authorities not to create hurdles on Modi's campaign trail.
The aviation ministry has collected the facts on the case and will submit the report before the EC deadline. It has collected the flight plans submitted to the air traffic control (ATC) for the aircraft and chopper that were to be used by the BJP PM candidate on Tuesday.
"The first flight plan for the charter aircraft indicated it was flying both Haryana CM BS Hooda and Modi to two different places on the same flight! When the ATC pointed this out and then they gave a modified flight plan," said a senior official.
