Air India Employee to be Shown the Door for Smuggling in Gold

Chennai: In a shocking revelation, Customs officials arrested a man for trying to smuggle 4.5 kg of gold from Singapore, only to discover that he was an Air India employee. According to a communique from the Customs Department at the Chennai airport, P Chandran (53), had arrived on IndiGo flight  at 7.30 am.
On suspicion, they had checked his baggage, only to find 4.5 kg of pure 24 carat gold bars stacked inside.
Coming just a day after Customs officials began looking at a nexus between smugglers and airport employees, it came as a shocker that a man with a tarmac-access ID card, was smuggling gold.
