Gold worth Rs 1.45 crore seized from two passengers at Chennai airport

Chennai: : A day after gold was found dumped in a dustbin, air customs seized gold bars weighing 4.9kg, worth Rs 1.45 crore, from two passengers who arrived here in different flights from Singapore on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
In a statement, air customs said 4.5kg gold bars were seized from P Chandran, a passenger who arrived in an Indigo Airlines flight from Singapore at 7.30am on Thursday. He had hidden the gold in his check in baggage. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
