Delay in building airport police station cause worry

Bhubaneswar:  Though more than a year has passed since chief minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone for the proposed airport police station building on March 27 last year, its construction is yet to take off. The airport authorities expressed their displeasure over the tardy progress of the work at a high-level meeting at the police commissioner's office on Monday.
"The new approach roads are being misused by hooligans in the evening. There were complaints by locals about consumption of alcohol and eve-teasing by hooligans. The police commissioner has promised to take up the matter with the agency entrusted to construct the police station," airport director Sharad Kumar said after the meeting. State-run Odisha State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Limited will construct the police station at a cost of nearly Rs 1.6 crore.
