DGCA sets time limit for licence to Tata-SIA

New Delhi:  The Tata Sons full service JV airline with Singapore Airlines (SIA) is all set to meet its projected date of starting operations this September. In a first, DGCA has set time limits for providing services — which includes giving licences to both airlines and personnel like pilots and engineers.
The regulator's "standards of services" says an application for schedule air operator permit (AOP which means licence to fly) must be granted within six months of aviation ministry granting no objection certificate to the proposed airline. "After satisfying that the applicant has met all the requirements and has acquired the desired capability to operate air transport services, DGCA grants the appropriate AOP.
