Midair scare as bird hits flight

Jaipur: A Jaipur-bound IndiGo flight from Kolkata made an emergency landing here on Sunday after a technical glitch resulting from a bird-hit. "The concerned airlines confirmed a bird hit its aircraft ... Rest of the details will be released once the airline submits its final report to DGCA," said airport director SN Borikar.
IndiGo's airport manager had initially told TOI that the plane was damaged either by a bird or some other object. Sources later said the bird hit took place when the plane was near Jaipur. "Had the hit taken place far away, it could have posed a threat to passengers lives," said an airport official.
The flight arrived on time in Jaipur at 9.15am after an emergency landing. The passengers were informed of the glitch only after the plane stopped to avoid any panic. While passengers to Jaipur deplaned, others on board from Kolkata to next destinations, Ahmedabad and Chennai, were informed of the change of plane after a technical team concluded that the repair may take a day.
