Kochi: The Air Intelligence Unit of the customs department at the CIAL on Monday seized two crude gold chains totally weighing 618.900 grams having a market value of `17,68,817. The gold was seized from a passenger, a native of Kottayam, who came from Dubai by Emirates flight EK 532 which landed in Kochi at 3.30 am on Monday. The gold was found concealed in hidden pockets of his trousers. On suspicion that he was carrying contraband gold, officials questioned him. When the person was thoroughly searched, two crude gold chains of purity of 999.9 were found in the hidden pocket of his trousers .
