BMC initiates action against big hoardings near airport

Mumbai:  The BMC has started taking action against hoardings that obstruct the flight path at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

It was reported earlier that carriers were forced to fly with fewer passengers so that the aircraft would become lighter and ascend in time to clear these hurdles.

Within a couple of days, all hoardings that obstruct the flight route will be cleared, said civic officials on Thursday. "There were 12 such billboards and they are all legal, but since they are proving to be an obstacle for the flight of aircraft we will be removing these," additional municipal commissioner Mohan Adtani said.

Civic officials said five hoardings had been brought down so far.
