Gold worth Rs 3 crore seized at Mumbai airport

Mumbai:: Customs officials seized 11.6kg gold worth Rs 2.9 crore in four cases on Wednesday.
In the first case, 6kg gold worth Rs 1.5 crore was found concealed in soap bars that had arrived from Dammam, Saudi Arabia, through Lynx Courier. The consignment was to be delivered to an address in Jharkhand. But the address was found to be fake. All bonafide gifts consignments valued less than Rs 10,000 attract zero duty.
Another 5 kg gold worth Rs 1.25 crore was found in the pockets of a Somali national, Ali Abdi, holding a US passport.
